Animal Care – Level 5
Duration: 1 year
This course provides students with fascinating insights into the health, care, and welfare of a wide variety of animals from dogs to birds and exotic animals. Students receive a sound theoretical grounding in Animal Anatomy, Physiology and Biology, animal grooming, animal welfare and veterinary assisting skills.Emphasis is placed on “hands-on” practical experience with animals during the work experience placement, and during field trips to veterinary clinics, dog grooming parlors, and welfare sanctuaries The “Start Your Own Business” module provides information about establishing your own business in the rapidly growing Animal Care Sector. We have many new and exciting links made with further educational Institutes and Universities along with our own College which also delivers Level 6 Animal Science.

Applicants should have Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied. These entry requirements may be waived in some instances, particularly to those with relevant experience. Applicants will be interviewed.
