OVERVIEW

Interested in a career working with animals of all shapes and sizes or furthering your career in these areas? Our Animal Science level 6 QQI course aims to provide students with the hands on experience and the theoretical knowledge required to be an effective member in a variety of sectors such as medical & animal husbandry, farming and animal welfare. Many modules in this programme are very practical and this element gives a nice balance along with other more theory based modules. Topics include; Wild animal management, Large animal husbandry, Canine obedience training, Animal science and health, Kennel and cattery management, Grooming Science, Communications and Work experience. The varied range of modules allows students an opportunity to explore exciting new areas and possible new career paths. Previous students have continued on to study, veterinary nursing, wildlife biology and veterinary bioscience aswell as many gaining employment in various areas of the industry.

Entry requirements

Education: NFQ Level 5 in a relevant discipline when accessing a Level 6 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 6 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to exercise initiative and independence when carrying out course activities.

Course Fees

Course materials fee of €200. There are no exam or registration fees.

Progression
